Mid-Early Ming Dynasty Blue and White General Jar —— Grandmaster JinBodhi's Collection
Product Number: AM25BG03JJG

Material: Ceramic

Size: Diameter 38cm, height 75cm

This towering form pushed the limits of Ming-era kiln craftsmanship. Large-scale porcelain like this required extreme precision in shaping and firing—any slight imbalance could lead to warping or explosion in the kiln. Rare, grand, and technically remarkable.

Standing at 75 cm, it commands attention and awe with its broad shoulders, full belly, and lion finial lid—a powerful and balanced majestic shape. Vivid cobalt blue under a smooth, lustrous glaze decoration features landscapes and human figures with layered depth and fluid brushwork.

Known as a “General Jar”, the form symbolizes authority and protection—often seen in noble estates and palace settings. The lion finial represents auspicious, power and guardianship, while the painted motifs reflect the literati’s spiritual ideals: harmony with nature, contemplation, and inner peace.

This jar is part of an old collection of Grandmaster JinBodhi—filled with Grandmaster’s great blessings!
